135.000 HP – Faster than a bullet! The Bloodhound Supersonic Car!

The Bloodhound Supersonic Car is something between a Formula One car, space rocket and supersonic jet. It is designed to reach a record-breaking 1000 mph, which would make it FASTER THAN A SPEEDING BULLET! The supersonic car is at Canary Wharf in London, where it was unveiled before it is fully tested next year at a desert venue in South Africa.

The Bloodhound is part of a £40m project spearheaded by Richard Noble – a man who held the record between 1983-1997 at 633.4mph – to break the land speed record. Noble’s record was beaten by RAF fighter pilot Andy Green in 1997, who hit more than 763mph. He is also gonna pilot the Supersonic Car in the Hakskeen Pan desert in the north-west corner of South Africa in 2016.

The secret behind this jaw-dropping speed of the Bloodhound is the cluster of Nammo hybrid rocket engines which have a Jaguar powered fuel pump lubricated by Castrol EDGE, Parker assisted airbrakes and a Eurojet EJ200 jet engine. That is some serious engineering!

The supersonic car, which will produce 135,000 horsepower, the equivalent of 180 Formula 1 cars, will be up to 15 times louder than a 747 jumbo jet taking off!! Well, in case you wanted to witness the “test drive” of this Bloodhound, think twice, or at least, cover your ears 😀 Check out the video!
