The 2016 Chevy Volt plug in hybrid goes lighter, faster and more fuel efficient!
General Motors created another plug-in hybrid car, the 2016 Chevy Volt!! Even though we at Ridingmode.com are excited, we can’t say that the rest of the world agrees with us. As an electric vehicle with a range-extending gasoline engine the 2016 Volt can travel up to 420 miles between fill-ups. Up to 53 of those 420 miles can be in pure electric mode, compared to 38 miles in last year’s model. Since this Chevy weighs about 100 pounds lighter than its predecessor, it will be quicker! The Volt can jump from zero to 60 mph in just 8.4 seconds!
GM want to advertise the 2016 Volt as a potential competitor of Toyota Prius and Nissan Leaf. It has 1,5 L I-4 engine, automatic transmission, 101 @ 5,600 rpm Horsepower and 294 lb-ft of torque, and features Front-wheel Drive type. Perhaps the most exciting news regarding the Volt’s new gasoline engine is that it now runs on regular, not premium fuel.
Another thing that’s new for Volt in 2016, Chevy’s new MyLink system with an 8-inch-diagonal color touchscreen is compatible with Apple CarPlay, which puts iPhone features (iPhone 5 and latter) on the display in a smart, simple manner, allowing drivers to make calls, send and receive messages and listen to music right from the touchscreen or by voice via Siri. The Volt is one sophisticated and inspirational Chevy hybrid! We are so excited!
Maybe this Chevy is not as exciting as the Tesla Model S P85D, but the base model 2016 Volt lists for $37,520. That’s almost three times cheaper, so, you do the maths! Check it out!
