Onyx Blade : Remarkably razor – sharp custom Yamaha MT-07!
Onyx Blade is the name of a heavily customed Yamaha MT-07 that will blow your mind.
During the last few years the revival of the Yamaha has been remarkable. A few series of rapid-fire product releases has really done wonders when it comes to the image of the company. The biggest boost of course, was coming from the MT-07. Nevertheless, we haven’t seen many customs that are based on such a legendary platform, which is a bit surprising. But, Bunker Customs changed that by releasing a crisply- styled Yard Build XSR700 that based on the classic MT-07. That became ‘Onyx Blade’- a dark and extremely handsome MT.
Onyx Blade. The reworking of the Yamaha is a radical one- so much so that the one thing that can give the game away is the distinctive engine only. The stock MT-07 has quite a design going on and that’s why the sharp-edged vibe is still there but, rendered in a totally different way. Initially, the matte wasn’t part of the plan but, the owner insisted that a layer of matter is applied on top of the base paint and here it is.
Onyx Blade. The non-adjustable forks on the stock Mt-07 have always been a center of criticism- some riders find them soft. That’s why the forks were shortened a little, firmed up and a pre-load adjustment was added. The front end is balanced out with fork covers while the tail section and the new tank add visual heft to the machine. Given the fact that this bike was made to be ride in Taipei, where it rains 165 days in a year, a useful protection shall be offered as well. In addition, the stock instrument cluster has been relocated to the tank – a perfect stylistic fit.
The exquisiteness detailing on this dark, shard and strangely beautiful Yamaha are breath-taking. Enjoy!
