Two wild wheelstanding gassers at the 6th Annual Meltdown Drags!!
Check out these two wild wheelstanding gassers at the 6th Annual Meltdown Drags!! Gasser cars have been stripped of extraneous weight and jacked up using a beam axle to provide better weight distribution on acceleration, though a raised stock front suspension is common as well. Common weight reduction techniques include fiberglass body panels, stripped interiors and plexiglass windows.
Here we have a 1956 Chevy powered by a 496ci Chevy engine, 400 turbo, straight axle, homemade ladder bars and no front brakes got a result of 10.79 at 104.95 mph. Mike Bilina is behind the wheel on this one! The other one, a 1961 Studebaker Hawk is powered by an Injected Chevy, 4 speed manual, Altered Wheelbase, aptly named the “Suicide King” and it’s driven by Bill Bierman! Check out these cool gassers!!!
