2017 Cadillac XT5 is the SRX’s sibling, only with better grades!

2017 Cadillac XT52017 Cadillac XT5  is not a miniature Escalade as much as anyone wants to believe so. It’s not even a new concept. The 2017 Cadillac XT5 is a continuation of the the company’s best-seller. Believe it or not, that’s the SRX.

Now, it may not look like the XT5 is so special so far, but for Cadillac, it’s a huge deal. The 2017 Cadillac XT5 marks the debut of the dazzling architecture that underpins it. This model is to serve as a new base for the upcoming models; a crossover that shows where the company is heading and where it actually is now. Consequently, this is anything but a mundane Cadillac.

2017 Cadillac XT5The first thing that you’ll notice is that Cadillac  takes a different and modern approach when it comes to the 2017 Cadillac XT5 and it starts at it very core. The 2017 Cadillac XT5 features a new chassis that’s lighter and stiffer than the SRX. In addition, it provides leg room, head room, and cargo space. The folks at Cadillac made sure that the body structure is not going to be a meta for the critics. The chassis should function as a lightweight cage that focuses on weight reduction without compromising crash performance and body rigidity. It’s just something that you’ll likely find in a race car.

Cadillac’s brand new chassis houses the 3.6-liter V6 that produces 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque. Everything is hooked to GM’s 8-speed automatic that sports a new electronic gearshift on the car’s center console. This gives the 2017 Cadillac XT5 a 3 mpg improvement over its predecessor.

On the technology front, we stumble upon the often ridiculed Cue system. However, the company gave it improved graphics and faster processor.  Touch screen and hard buttons entirely replace the once-touted capacitive button array on the Cue. That’s good news.

When it comes to the exterior of the 2017 Cadillac XT5 , it’s clearly visible that Cadillac made it look more athletic. In the process, the company also improved side and rear visibility, a quite important feature. Nevertheless, it seems that despite the chassis, the one thing that will be taking breaths is the interior.
