2017 Toyota 86 brings a fresh face, new name and more power!
2017 Toyota 86 made its debut at the 2016 New York Auto Show and brought some incredible news with it. The Scion is dead and the FR-S name kicks the bucket with it. However, that doesn’t mean that the RWD sports coupe will bite the dust – now, it’s the brand new 2017 Toyota V86. This latest model finally has a more aggressive styling and a bit of extra power up its sleeve.
The 2017 Toyota 86 ‘s 2.0-liter boxer-four puts out 205 HP and 156 pound-feet of torque. That is 5 HP and 5 lb-ft more on manual transmission models. Nevertheless, the 2017 Toyota 86 still isn’t the turbocharger RWD coupe that many people dream of seeing or having. The ones who are interested in automatic transmission on this model will have to make do with fewer pedals and less power.

On the other hand, Toyota does promise ‘additional performance’ due to the different gear ratios for the 6-speed manual transmission. The new spring rates and shock tuning will affect the handling and now, there is the Hill Start Assist Control.
The outgoing FR-S looked incredibly well but, you can’t compare it to the meaner look of the 2017 Toyota 86. The bigger changes are the 2 sharp points along the bottom and the new front bumper with a large intake that stretches across the width of the coupe. Moreover, the automaker replaced the taillights and the headlights with LED units on the 2017 Toyota 86.
Of course, we’re hoping that the company will be kind enough to give us more specs any time soon. Furthermore, we do believe that the 2017 Toyota 86 will bring bigger success.
We won’t be seeing the production version until later this year. When it comes to sales, we can hope that they will start in late 2017 as a 2018 model. Check it out!
