Differences between Small Block and Big Block engines!

Check out this great and helpful video about differences between Small Block and Big Block engines! And, no, the displacement was not the main factor, like I thought. See the thing is, logically, Big Block is bigger, has bigger displacement, has been made with more material, and is more durable. But it’s not enough to consider it as the one and only difference.

The stroke is another way to tell the difference. Small Blocks would have short strokes and Big Blocks long strokes. Cubic inches- not necessarily related to whether it’s a big block or not.

And last, but not least, the head and the position of the valves. On the small block engine the valves are all lined up straight, and on the big block they’re canted and the head is larger. This is a useful video explanation based on two Chevy engines. Enjoy!
