Dinner table at the drag strip!! Dafuq did I just see?!
Well, we have never seen dinner table at the drag strip, that’s for sure! Of course, it’s there for show, not a part of competition but, who cares? It’s a freaking Queen Ann dining table!! With six chairs and draped in a tablecloth with a full course meal, champagne bucket, silverware, candelabra, fruit, dining table, and all, turning a quarter-mile lap at over 113 MPH. This cool exhibition act took place at England’s Santa Pod Raceway.
England’s own Perry Watkins is the mastermind behind this table, and while it’s not his first record-breaking creation, it’s quite possibly his most interesting one. Watkins is also the proud owner of the record for the smallest car as well as the flattest car, and with those in hand, his next venture took him to the drag strip after spending thirteen months building what you see here.
The table was constructed using a 1994 Reliant Scimitar Sabre, a sporty two-door coupe produced by the British car maker. Watkins modified the car in his garage, and added nitrous oxide to the original engine, which measures either 1.4 or 1.8 liters, depending on the option the particular car came with.
