Diesel engine Diesel engine

This 30 year old engine is finally fired up after 30 years of sleeping. The name of this machine sounds like a name for a spaceship but the Enterprise DSG-36 was actually made for more earthbound vessels. The DSG-36 is a 6 cylinder, 4 cycle diesel with 12 inch bore and 15 inch stroke. That probably works up 1.7 liters of displacement per cylinder which means 10,000 cubic inches total.

In a normally aspirated form the rate is 600 HP and with a turbocharger more that 900 HP. These kinds of engines were highly demanded by the military during World War II. By the looks of it, this engine hasn’t been near water for a long time. It probably is used to run a generator, but the fact that it hasn’t been used for 30 years and now it’s clearly functional is a proof of its quality.

Check it out.
