The abbreviation VTEC stands for Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control. It is a system developed by Honda to improve the volumetric efficiency of a four-stroke internal combustion engine. The VTEC system uses two camshaft profiles and hydraulically selects between profiles. It was invented by Honda engineer Ikuo Kajitani, and was the first system of its kind. It is distinctly different from standard VVT (variable valve timing) which advances the valve timing only and does not change the camshaft profile or valve lift in any way.

V-TEC just kicked in, yo! Vroom, vroom!

“V-TEC Just Kicked in, yo!” is a popular phrase nowadays, and an endless inspiration for creators of all kinds of memes! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ This saying was probably invented because the V-TEC engine β€œkicks in” at a certain speed. Now, this guy in the video shows what VTEC is all about. It’s as far as it goes and couldn’t get more right than this. πŸ˜€
